AllerGuard – over 50 years of development, innovation and documented allergy protection.
The beginning in the 1960s
AllerGuard has created allergen-proof fabrics since the 1960s, when the significance of the dust mite's ability to cause allergies in humans was first discovered.
Development of microfibre technology
Two engineers in the textile industry in Singapore joined forces and together with a local weaving mill developed one of the first microfibre fabrics with such a uniform and unique weave that it was able to retain particles down to 0.1 µM (1 μM = 1/1,000,000 metre).
Together with the thin, silky feel and the fabric's ability to absorb and release moisture, microfibre also became a widely used fabric for, for example, sportspeople who didn't want to compete in cotton clothing that was heavy and retained moisture. The first microfibre running shirts from Nike were thus AllerGuard.

The first allergen-proof products
AllerGuard was first sold as allergen-proof bedding in Japan and Singapore, where the first research studies on effectiveness were also carried out. The results were so good that AllerGuard was already widespread worldwide by the mid-1970s. Before that time, protection mostly consisted of heavy, coated or PVC-tight textiles that largely contributed to giving allergen protection a bad name due to poor comfort, short lifespan and odour and noise problems.
Relocation of production and new partnerships
In 1980 we became a distributor, and in 2006 we bought AllerGuard. At the same time, we expanded our collaboration with the factory in Eastern Europe, who in addition to a sewing room could deliver the desired, thoroughly tested down quality for our pillows and duvets. These measures have improved AllerGuard so that it is still the most sought-after allergen-proof protection in most of the world.
Continued innovation and documented protection
Producing such an advanced product requires a major technical effort, and AllerGuard is not sold as a discount product, but as one of the market's most effective protection against dust mite allergy, where the customer can be sure that the product works as intended for at least 10 years and after more than 50 washes. Unfortunately, this is not normal in the industry, where poor, undocumented and ineffective products are still sold.
AllerGuard today
The engineering company MvG Consult ApS owns AllerGuard, which is sold in most of the world via local distributors or our own online sales.
AllerGuard's sole goal is to offer help to people suffering from dust mite allergy by producing and selling allergen-proof bedding of the market's best quality.
MvG Consult ApS also provides engineering and customer consultancy on indoor climate, dust mites, mould and allergies to municipalities, doctors and private individuals.
Together with the OBH Group's Environment and Indoor Climate Department, we offer DNA analyses for mould in buildings.
