Lower grades are suitable for filling decorative cushions or upholstered furniture and should not be used in the manufacture of bedding. Only new down provides the long product life and quality required by AllerGuard, which is why we use new down exclusively.\n\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"margin-left: 0px;\"\u003e\nRecycled down is often used in lower-cost products. It may contain residues from previous use which, if not thoroughly removed, can create conditions for bacteria and odours:\n\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"margin-left: 0px;\"\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eHouse dust mites and skin flakes:\u003c\/strong\u003e Residues of human skin and microorganisms that may previously have been present in the bedding.\n\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"margin-left: 0px;\"\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eSweat and oils:\u003c\/strong\u003e Natural body oils that may have been absorbed by the down over time.\n\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"margin-left: 0px;\"\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eOrganic dust:\u003c\/strong\u003e Degraded keratin particles from the feathers that have broken down into fine dust through wear.\n\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"margin-left: 0px;\"\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eOld detergent residues:\u003c\/strong\u003e Accumulated traces of detergent and fabric softener from previous washing.\n\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"margin-left: 0px;\"\u003e\nThe channels in AllerGuard duvets are always thermally welded at a minimum temperature of 140 °C rather than stitched, helping to prevent house dust mite allergens from passing through needle holes. The welded construction also reduces cold spots and improves sleeping comfort compared with duvets with stitched channel walls.\n\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"margin-left: 0px;\"\u003e\nThe outer casing of the duvet is made from AllerGuard fabric, so there is no need to purchase an additional allergen-proof duvet cover. A normal cotton duvet cover can be used for comfort and to help extend the life of the product.\n\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"margin-left: 0px;\"\u003e\nPlease note that people are generally not allergic to feathers or down themselves, but rather to dust within the down or feathers and to residues of biological material. These can cause symptoms, which is why the oxidation value is important.\n\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"margin-left: 0px;\"\u003e\nThe down used in our pillows and duvets has a fill power of \u003cstrong\u003e850 CUIN\u003c\/strong\u003e.
